Research

The research targets are unsteady flow, aeroelasticity, and fluid-structure interaction phenomena in turbomachinery, such as compressors and turbines in aeroengines and thermal power plants. The numerical simulations are conducted on various computers, from desktop PCs, to the state-of-art supercomputers. The research interests are not only in understanding of the flow characteristics through the simulations, but also in the analysis methodologies themselves. The ongoing work is based on the following points of view.

  • Development of efficient analysis method for fluid-structure interaction (FSI) problems
  • Understanding of complex flow phenomena from high-fidelity CFD results with simplified configurations
  • Understanding of various flow characteristics in geometrically-complex configurations, such as test facilities and engine components
